Tiny and light they soar to the top of mountains and float to the bottoms of oceans. Just by walking around in polyester pullovers we lose thousands of smallest textile fibres every day without a notice. They collect inside the dust bunnies in our bed room corners or make their way up our nostrils and even into our cells.

More than 65% of global textile production is made of petroleum, thus plastic microfibres from textiles are omnipresent. This despite the disturbing evidence latest research shows: Petroleum-based fibers, once inside our bodies, might contribute to all kinds of serious illnesses.

The interactive installation The Secret Life of ... makes the invisible visible. The digital reflection simulates the amount of plastic microfibers that we release into the environment just by walking around in synthetic clothing. A participatory wall installation invites visitors to leave a personal microfiber sample. The growing diagram reveals the material and sentimental composition of the garments present in the space.
